Record Breaking A-Level Results at Salford City College
Ben Collard achieved an A* in maths, an A* in further maths and a B in chemistry and wants to go on to study maths at university. We have students now going off to study a truly awe inspiring range of courses at our country’s top universities, including medicine, law, dentistry, veterinary science and a vast range of other university courses.

Headteacher, Ellenor Beighton commended the “determination of the students and the growth mindset of the staff”.
Performance levels remained strong and stable with 7.7 per cent of entries receiving an A*, up 0.1 per cent on a year ago.
Emily Cox, a former West Craven High School student, picked up her A*ABB grades in Psychology, Creative Writing, English Literature and Drama and Theatre Studies this morning, and is now looking forward to reading English Literature and Classics at the University of Edinburgh.
Harry Croxford received A*AB which has been described by the school as a “phenomenal success for such a talented young man”.
Students across Redditch have been nervously opening envelopes and checking websites to find out if their A Level exam results have delivered what they need to succeed.
“These results also reflect the dedication and professionalism of all our staff and the continuing support of our parents”.
St Brendan’s provides students with a huge choice of 47 different A-level courses, and this year 26 of those subjects are boasting a 100 per cent pass rate.
The school’s Sports Academy continued to produce outstanding results, with 25 Distinction Stars (D*) and seven Distinctions (D), health and social care achieved 21 D* and one Ds, and performing arts (including music) achieved nine D* and 3 Ds.
Students at Lady Manners School have performed well overall with many achieving the top grades.
One pupil – Keaton Askew – even achieved a record five A* grades. Nine students achieved A*- A grades in all their subjects.

The Government introduced changes to the subject content of all AS and A-levels past year.
What gives our retake students the competitive edge when reapplying for university is that they often add new A-level subjects. “But then I checked UCAS Track and found out I got in before I came to college, so I was so happy on my way in, I was then really excited to see what grades I got”.
The county council will now look carefully at the overall picture and identify more structured conclusions about this year’s results, taking into account further local and national comparisons when these become available in October.
