New Jersey is waking up to some of the thickest fog of the season so far.
Once this system leaves our area and ridging builds in from east to west, expect warmer than average temps to take hold. You’ll see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day with more sunshine towards the north and more cloud cover to the south. In fact, it’s looking quite wet for the next few days…tonight through tomorrow evening alone could bring well over an inch of rain to much of the area. The rain will begin in South Jersey early this morning and traverse northward through the rest of the morning. The threat right now will be kind of this extended period of time. On the other hand, Sunday looks to bring the worst weather of this past week.
Thursday: Cloudy then becoming sunny. A more significant cold front will move into the region by the middle of next week, with the chance for showery weather, and a cooler New Year’s Eve.
The high in Columbus is expected to be 60 degrees on Christmas Eve. The record high is 75, set in 1955.
The forecast for Christmas Day has a high temperature of 47 degrees, with a slight chance of rain in the morning.
Friday Night: A chance of showers.
The rain we were expecting to arrive very late Christmas Day is now forecast to hold off until Saturday.

Forecast confidence remains unusually low for this weekend and beyond. Highs will still warm into the upper 60s to low 70s area-wide. The previous record high for Allentown was 62 degrees, set back in 1990. Highs will be in the mid 60s. Those cloudy skies will carry over into Saturday night, along with a 50 percent chance of rain. “That will continue, although we will have slightly more seasonal temperatures Friday and into the weekend”.
