“I want to keep playing at this level and I’ll work hard to achieve it, just like I do every year”.

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has won the UEFA Best Men’s Player in Europe Award after winning both last season’s Champions League and Euro 2016 with Portugal. My objective is to extend my contract and stay at the club I love. I don’t need to look at anyone else, I motivate myself. “I have to thank you to my team mates – Real Madrid and national – because they helped me a lot to win these trophies”.

The forward’s contract, is due to expire in June 2018 and Ronaldo wants another long term deal.

The 31-year-old showed he’s still a top forward with 51 goals in 48 matches, one of the highest marks in Europe.

Ronaldo and his team-mates will try to defend their Champions League title this season and aim for their first La Liga title since the 2011-12 campaign, a competition rivals Barcelona have dominated in recent years.

I want to retire at Real Madrid because it’s the best club in the world. It’s incredible. I wish to win tonight and I’m so proud.
