Recruiting stunts help coaches stand out in social media age
Harbaugh was a former National Football League quarterback and former head coach of the San Francisco 49ers before he left for Ann Arbor.

When college’s have a signing day, it’s a big deal on campus.
Jim Harbaugh and MI are pulling out all the stops for its National Signing Day party on Wednesday.
When asked about Harbaugh’s latest antics of sleeping over at a recruits house and climbing a tree on a separate recruiting visit, Meyer called them “creative” tactics, but doesn’t plan to take any ideas from Harbaugh in the future. The Wolverines are the favorites to land commitments from several other top prospects, including No. 1 overall recruit Rashan Gary, a defensive lineman from New Jersey. Harbaugh should be thrilled with how his first full recruiting class has turned out, but a few available targets could really put the finishing touches on.
“It’s night and day”, Feely said.
Swenson, too, indicated the decision to leave Michigan’s class wasn’t his own.
It was a harmless and humorous attack, but it speaks to what has been an interesting recruiting season for Harbaugh after his first season in Ann Arbor. I bet we do have a reputation that we’re very serious. It’s going to continue to be that. We weren’t hearing s– about MI football.

Michigan, despite the controversy, remains in position to end the recruiting period on a high note. The guest list includes, according to SI.com, Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Jim Leyland, Ric Flair, Mike Shanahan, Desmond Howard, Lou Holtz (wait, didn’t he used to coach at…), Brad Keselowski and ESPN draft expert Todd McShay. This year, he chose to go bigger. It will raise funds for the Chad Tough Foundation, formed in memory of Chad Carr, the grandson of former MI coach Lloyd Carr, who passed away in December after a 15-month-long battle with cancer.
