If you go through those profiles or a friend’s game history and find Red Dead Redemption, you can open it in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and either install it (if you’ve previously owned it) or buy it and then install it on Xbox One. While this game hasn’t been officially confirmed for the backwards compatibility, several users are reporting that the game can be downloaded and played on the Xbox One. I tried to put in my Xbox 360 disc of Red Dead Redemption and it wouldnt install.

However, Venture Beat was playing it earlier on their Xbox One, so there’s that too. So while right now it does take a few extra steps to get Red Dead Redemption running on Xbox One, expect an official announcement on the game being added to the service very soon. It was exclusive to the PS3 and Xbox 360. We are assuming that support for physical copies will come in the future, similarly to all of the other Xbox One backwards compatible titles.
