Owens improved to 4-3 and lowered his ERA to 3.84 and continued a run out of scoreless starts against the Orioles, who entered the series with an outside chance of sneaking into the wild card conversation, and ended it without managing a run.

The Sox haven’t won three straight shutouts since April 2004, when the starters were named Pedro Martinez, Curt Schilling and Byung-Hyun Kim.

Jimenez (12-10) gave up two runs on six hits in seven innings. “I’ll also be the principal owner and control person of our Triple A team in Pawtucket as we seek a new ballpark down there, plus I’m gonna be very active in the leadership of the Jimmy Fund.”They might want to listen pretty intently in Pawtucket on the stadium thing, unless they’ve forgotten where baseball’s big bang of retro/modern stadiums actually happened.”Yeah if I had one good, original idea in 37 years in baseball it was for a traditional, old-fashioned ballpark with modern amenities”, he chuckled”.

While they didn’t lead to any runs, the Orioles dropped two fly balls in the outfield, including one by Gold Glove center fielder Adam Jones in his first game back after being unavailable the past six days.

“It’s been really hard for us, especially these three days when we haven’t scored”, tough-luck loser Ubaldo Jimenez said.

Jimenez walked five and has issued 14 free passes over 23 2-3 innings in his last four starts, though he’s limited opponents to a.202 batting average in the same span.

Baltimore Orioles’ Christian Walker (34) can not beat the throw to… It’s their most losses since 51 in 2011. After Brock Holt drew a one-out walk, Xander Bogaerts gave away an out by trying for two bases on a single to left. And it finished with Robbie Ross Jr., a smiling left-hander from Kentucky who has persevered through three separate demotions to the minor leagues this season. It didn’t get far at all, just a couple yards to the first base side, but Holt took off immediately, and slid home without much trouble.

It was the first time Baltimore has been shut out in three straight games since July 29-31, 1957.

Showalter admitted the Orioles have missed Jones’ presence in the lineup, but said the club has been careful in not bringing him back too soon.
