Red Sox bring up O’Sullivan and demote Owens to minors

New York Yankees’ Didi Gregorius follows through with an three-run triple during the fourth inning of a baseball game against the Boston Red Sox Saturday, May 7, 2016, in New York. There were no happy emotions for him after this one. The home run nearly did not stand up for the Yankees.
The 3-1 pitch was not to his liking, as it appeared to sail low and away.
Here’s the pitch data, which clearly supports the Red Sox.
– The Cubs have an MLB-best 22-6 record; that’s the best 28-game start since the Yankees opened the 2003 season with the same record.
Price, who got slapped around by the Yankees – particularly those in the bottom of the order – in the 8-2 drubbing the Red Sox suffered at the Stadium on Saturday, represents the biggest concern to hit Boston probably since boats with loads of taxable tea settled into the harbor. That’s something I definitely take pride in and feel like I’ve done extremely well throughout my career, is being able to make adjustments on the fly, whether it’s pitch to pitch or game to game or day to day.
Farrell came out of the dugout irate to argue the call and was promptly tossed from the game by home plate umpire Ron Kulpa.
“My heart is still racing…that was a challenge, and I like being challenged, but sometimes you want it a little easier”, Miller said. And he looked pretty bad on those pitches – I’m telling you right now. “It’s a good piece of hitting”, said Price, now 14-8 lifetime against the Yankees. Acquired from Minnesota during the offseason, he was hitting.
“I don’t know, honestly”, he said. Boston has dropped the first two games of the series and consecutive games for the first time since April 17-18 to Toronto.
Gregorius had a sacrifice which led to a run in the third and singled and scored in the sixth, but his big contribution was a bases-loaded double in the fourth off Price.
NY had lost seven of its previous eight games. Friday’s free offering will be the Yankees vs. Red Sox showdown, and the game can be viewed on the Yahoo!
It was Price’s 33rd appearance – 32nd start – against the Yankees, more than any other team he’s faced.
David Price gave up six earned runs and took his first loss of the season, while Yankees starter Nathan Eovaldi pitched eight strong innings for the home team. After Travis Shaw’s infield hit in the eighth, Girardi brought in Miller for a four-out save. “Doesn’t matter though – as badly as we need wins, I’m glad we survived it”. After the Red Sox scored on a home run by Jackie Bradley Jr.in the fifth, Carlos Beltran pushed the lead to 6-2 with a two-run double down the left field line.

“Today he utilized his breaking ball more than we’ve seen in the past few starts”, Boston pitching coach Carl Willis said.
