Red Sox manager John Farrell diagnosed with lymphoma

Farrell was Lester’s pitching coach before being his manager for two years and Lester is joining the entire Red Sox organization and baseball world in believing Farrell will get through it.

It finally looked like Farrell had enough of this press conference, so a Red Sox spokesman announced that the hard part was over. The manager told reporters Friday that doctors described the lymphoma as “localized and highly curable”.

The Red Sox are now hold a 51-64 record in their Major League Baseball season.

Farrell said it would be unfair to the players for him to try to continue to manage. “Just chemo will start early next week”.

Tuesday marked the first time that Farrell had not managed a game since taking over the team as manager in 2013. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back next season. That season, ace Jon Lester returned from lymphoma in late July and started the clinching game of the Series in Colorado. The family is no stranger to cancer, as John and Sue sat by their youngest son Luke as he underwent surgery to remove a tumor while John was coaching in Toronto. “When they mention the word ‘cancer, ‘ it’s something that doesn’t matter what it comes from, it’s going to impact you”. “I think both sides have made a lot of gestures to do that”. He likely suffered the injury by moving an equipment bag when the team played its series against the New York Yankees.

Lester said it’s nothing you can prepare for.
