Red Sox pushing hard for Chris Sale

It remains unclear if the Chicago White Sox are serious about dealing Chris Sale, but the club reportedly has at least had discussions regarding the ace left-hander. Nightengale speculates that if Sale is dealt, which is still unlikely, that he could end up in Boston or with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because trade talks remain fluid.

Chris Sale really didn’t like the retro White Sox jerseys, but his reaction to them led to their selling out. The 27-year-old has a career record of 71-44 with a 2.95 ERA.

The Red Sox did make a trade for lefthanded Twins reliever Fernando Abad earlier in the day.

The Rangers are the team to especially watch in this sweepstakes, as they could aim to try and get him today as they have been very aggressive in the starting pitching trade market. It’s been reported that the White Sox and Red Sox have heavily scouted each other, with speculation centering around young outfielder prospect Andrew Benintendi in strong farm system. In order to get Sale, the Red Sox would likely have to put together a package that equals or bests what the Arizona Diamondbacks traded to the Atlanta Braves for Shelby Miller. Chicago is also likely going to see if they can persuade Boston to include top prospect Yoan Moncada in the deal.
