Red Sox put Dustin Pedroia on 15-day DL
Dustin Pedroia didn’t do a lot of running on the base paths since his return to the Red Sox post-All-Star break, but he did enough overall to re-aggravate his right hamstring injury. He was missing from the Red Sox lineup in Thursday’s series finale against the Astros and Friday’s series opener against the Tigers.

“Pedey wanted to get back on the field, as we all know, when he was first available”, said Farrell.
Pedroia played the first six games of Boston’s recent seven-game road trip, going 1-for-22.
Manager John Farrell explained that the team had felt that the three weeks he had been shut down before would be sufficient time for Pedroia’s hamstring to recover, but he appears to have re-aggravated the injury.
The Associated Press (via Yahoo Sports) reported Saturday that Pedroia was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
“I can’t say it was a singular event that caused what he’s feeling”, Farrell said. “As he was going at it each and every day, the symptoms continued to persist”.
There wasn’t a specific play or moment in which Pedroia re-injured the hamstring.

The 2008 AL MVP is hitting. 287 with nine homers and 34 RBIs this season. He went 1-for-22 after being activated, which has dropped his batting average from. While the Red Sox might be heading for a lost season, they will still need the “heart and soul of our team”, according to Ferrell (per the AP report), to finish 2015 on a strong note.
