Reddit interim CEO Pao resigns; Huffman regains CEO title
Alexis Ohanian, another co-founder who has been working as executive chairman of reddit, will work “alongside” Huffman, said Reddit board head Sam Altman in a statement on Friday.

Altman praised Pao for bringing “focus to chaos” and called her “a pioneer for women in the tech industry”.
“It became clear that the board and I had a different view on the ability of Reddit to grow this year”, Ms. Pao said in an interview.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Pao said that combative users are “one part of the job I won’t be sorry to give up”, and that user criticism “has been hard”.
Pao apologized earlier this week to the Reddit community after a mass online protest over the firing of Victoria Taylor, who staffed a popular feature. Volunteer moderators of the /r/IAmA subreddit took the discussion area offline to try to figure out a way forward without Taylor’s help, characterizing Taylor’s dismissal as the latest in a long string of poorly communicated moves by reddit’s administrators. “Not just on July 2, but also over the past several years”.

As a closing note, it was sickening to see some of the things redditors wrote about Ellen. “People are still people even if there is internet between you“. While Pao has made an effort since then to make positive changes to the site, in an effort to make the website more inviting, she has gotten a lot of push-back from unhappy users, NBC News reported. In her place will be the original CEO of Reddit, Steve Huffman. She unsuccessfully sued her ex- employer Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, a venture capital firm, claiming that systemic gender discrimination meant she was denied for promotions and ultimately fired.
