Redskins agree to terms with cornerback Josh Norman
Now an unrestricted free agent, Norman was reportedly seeking $15-16 million per year on his next contract and the Panthers were unwilling to go above $11 million when they made their last offer at the NFL Combine.

Several new teammates congratulated Norman and welcomed him to Washington, including fellow cornerback DeAngelo Hall.
“It came out of nowhere”.
Earlier in the afternoon and Thursday, Washington players used Twitter to try to convince Norman to sign.
The Washington Redskins look to be a big competitor for Norman’s talents, and we will have to wait and see how it all unfolds.
At the National Football League owners meeting a few weeks ago in Boca Raton, Florida, Gettleman said he would be comfortable with Norman playing under the tag however, he believed the two sides could work out a deal. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told the G-Bag Nation on 105.3 The Fan that Norman’s finances “are probably past where we’re comfortable with”. You need 53 guys…
The two teams play for a second time in the season finale in Washington January 1. He had 4 interceptions a year ago and returned two of them for touchdowns. Norman earned all pro honors last season.
While he claimed the door is open for Norman’s return – in 2009, the Seahawks rescinded the franchise tag on LeRoy Hill, and signed him to contract four days later – Gettleman also said “We want players who are all-in”.
The Panthers already have a lot of money committed to Luke Kuechly, and they have to worry about long-term contracts for Kawann Short and Star Lotulelei, which likely explains their reluctance to pay Norman that kind of cash.
