Redskins bringing in another pass rusher?

The Redskins are expected to meet with former New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette on Thursday, a sign that the organization has at least some interest in a talented, but troubled, player. “We had a lot of questions after we won the Super Bowl”.

After releasing defensive captain Junior Galette, the edge rusher allegedly took to social media, posting incendiary remarks about players and head coach Sean Payton.

Galette as of Wednesday was a free agent, available to sign with any team that wants his services.

Good 27-year-old pass rushers don’t hit the streets very often and there are multiple red flags regarding Galette.

“I think we always have to keep in mind that it’s emotional for a player when he’s told that he’s not wanted anymore – I understand the emotion”, Loomis said. More than one former teammate voiced their opinion following the news of Galette’s release.

“We signed that contract last September and with the information that we had I thought that was a good contract”, Loomis said.

Earlier this summer, a video surfaced that purportedly showed Galette hitting a woman with a belt during a 2013 beach brawl in Miami.

“Ultimately we made the decision that the best thing for our team going forward is to part ways with Junior Galette”. Galette was also accused of domestic abuse in January, but those charges were dropped a month later.

There also were reports that Galette was getting to be a locker room distraction.

One possibility is last year’s second-round draft pick, Trent Murphy. Sean Payton didn’t disclose the reasons Colston or Byrd will start camp on the PUP but did say he doesn’t them expect to miss too much time. I mean what I said, we wish him well. “It had nothing to do with us saying we’re going to move on”, Payton said.

The Saints this offseason brought in veteran tackle Kevin Williams, who was with Seattle last season, to add depth, but Payton and Loomis said Williams’ arrival had nothing to do with Bunkley’s departure. The collective bargaining agreement prevents teams from putting the players in pads right away, so the Saints will be in shorts & helmets (shells) for the first three practices.
