Washington may need a franchise quarterback and may desperately want that guy to be Cousins, but I’m not convinced that he is yet. That’s not going to cut it. If coordinator Billy Davis can’t get pressure from his front three, or four, he’s going to have to blitz and be creative about it. Sitting back in coverage is not the way to beat Cousins.
In Maxwell’s place will be either Jaylen Watkins or E.J. Biggers, or the team could mix and match the pair. Having those firsts this late in the season usually does not equate to a playoff bid, however, in the tumultuous NFC East, there is always hope. They were 4-11, and would lose the next week to go 4-12.

Watkins athleticism certainly played a part in the Bills second touchdown of the game, but the wide receiver gave most of the credit to his quarterback.
