Redskins eliminate Bills, one win from NFC East title
Behind that push has been the play of Kirk Cousins, who, like his team, emerged through the rubble of a positional mess to become the team’s best quarterback. ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported that the Washington Redskins quarterback filed a trademark on the Redskins’ new battlecry back in October.

The Washington Redskins are one win away from clinching a rare playoff appearance, but are also thinking about their future, which will go hand in hand with Kirk Cousins at quarterback. We still have a lot of work to do.
“It was bad”, Bills safety Corey Graham said after a game in which the Bills allowed Kirk Cousins to throw for 319 yards and four touchdowns and also rush for a touchdown. Cousins, a four-year veteran, can always be kept under the franchise tag, but will the Redskins actually pay $20 million for him just so they can stall the long term deal option?
“We still have a dogfight in front of us”.
“Obviously this came down to the fact that we couldn’t stop them on defense”, Ryan said. So we’re trying to switch men.
The wide receiver called out his teammates’ lack of leadership after Buffalo was eliminated from the playoffs for the 16th straight season.
“Did it go according to plan?”
The day began ominously with reports that there’s friction between Bills General Manager Doug Whaley and the coaching staff, and that defensive end Mario Williams had faked an illness last week when he called in sick and missed a couple of practices. “That’s obvious. You just wait and see if your number is called, that’s all”.
Washington outgained Buffalo 257-93 in the first half and scored touchdowns on its first three possessions for the first time since September 19, 1999 (against the Giants).
Even when Washington made a mistake of its own – rookie returner Jamison Crowder fumbled a punt near midfield – Buffalo couldn’t take advantage. The team, under his watch, has not performed the way many believe they are capable, and the Bills carried a better record at season’s end in 2014 with a less-talented roster. Taylor finished 235 yards, and wide receiver Sammy Watkins had five catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns, all in the second half.
The Redskins responded with a 13-play, 80-yard drive capped by Cousins’ 5-yard TD toss to Pierre Garcon early in the fourth quarter.
Fans repeatedly celebrated touchdowns with full-throated chants of “You like that!” – a reference to what Cousins yelled as he trotted to the locker room after a comeback victory earlier this season.
“I had to turn my headsets up a little bit”, Gruden said. It was followed by the line “Washington is just doing anything they want offensively”. Asked if he felt he had something to prove over the final two games of this season to Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula, Ryan said: “Well, no. Well, I guess, yes”, he said. “But I guess I was wrong”. In their last four games, the Bills have yielded 1,114 yards and 10 touchdown passes vs. Alex Smith, Sam Bradford, Brian Hoyer and Cousins….
Tight end Charles Clay (back) has a good chance to return after missing one game, Ryan said, as does reserve cornerback Ron Brooks (concussion). We all like it so it’s time to put a ring on it.

They had alternated victories and losses for the past eight games, the longest such run in the league. Redskins injuries: S Dashon Goldson (bruised rib), RT Morgan Moses (sprained foot), RB Matt Jones (bruised hip), C Josh LeRibeus (sprained ankle), LB Will Compton (stinger).
