Redskins’ Joe Barry ‘comfortable’ with plan in Steelers loss

Despite the fact that the Josh Norman-Odell Beckham Jr. matchup last season got out of hand and downright unsafe, cornerback/receiver feuds are rare and delightful, and though Washington and NY don’t play until Week 3, the Giants are doing everything they can to shade Norman and hype up the rematch. He thought that Norman should have been matched up on Antonio Brown for the whole game, and here is what he said in regards to the performance.

Norman is right – if the Redskins win Sunday against the Cowboys, much of the furor surrounding pass defense will quiet.

It’s understandable to want and see Norman on Brown.

Jenkins welcomed the challenge man-on-man against Bryant because he intends to demonstrate he is worth every penny of the five-year, $62.5 million contract he signed with the Giants this offseason.

The star wide receiver managed just one catch for eight yards as the Cowboys were narrowly beaten by the New York Giants.

CB Janoris Jenkins on Josh Norman: “I think when you’re paying somebody $70 mil, there shouldn’t be no game plan …”

Jenkins then addressed one of Norman’s boasts. “The gameplan should be ‘You’re on this guy.’ That’s what it is”.

Without looking up, the 2014 All-Pro pointed outside the locker room, playfully suggesting that the issue should be taken up with coaches whose offices are now a floor above the players at the team’s new practice facility. “I let ya’ll do the rankings”.

“I didn’t want to have someone uncovered because we couldn’t get lined up, because we changed our rules on the sideline. I’ve been doing it for a long time and it’s about time I’m getting recognition, but at the end of the day, I’m just here to play football”. That part of the story has been glossed over, however, as most stories only talk about Brown beating Breeland without Norman in coverage. Third-year corner Bashaud Breeland covered Brown for most of the game. Giants’ players think that he should have told his coach that he needs to be on Antonio Brown.

Mistake No. 2 was Washington deciding not to try to disguise its coverages for most of the night.

Bryant was still plagued by a foot he broke in the opener previous year, and he dealt with ankle issues most of the season as well.

“We felt comfortable with our plan because we thought a number of our corners had a great offseason”.
