Redskins Must Win vs Giants

In their second year under head coach Jay Gruden, the Redskins have done a great job of teasing the fan base this season. The NFC East in years past has been considered one of the toughest in the National Football League, and Coughlin says that remains the case.

With the NFC East being up for grabs, the likely only way in for the Giants, who in addition to Washington have the Eagles in the regular-season finale, to see the postseason is to hang on to their lead, a lead that survived last week’s bye. And Manning, as always, is going to be the main reason the Giants either win their winnable games (and take their shots against Carolina and Minnesota, the tricky tests left on the schedule) or wind up scuffling all the way to Week 17.

“To be honest with you, it’s an very bad lot about fundamentals and about technique”, Coughlin said.

What might be surprising to some is that most of the players said they didn’t bother watching much football the past week. But they are in the ideal position to bounce back with a win on Monday night when they host the banged up Baltimore Ravens. The Giants have 18 sacks in their current five-game winning streak vs. Washington.

The Cowboys are much better now that Romo is back, but they probably won’t win if he plays like he did last week. “If I had any doubt that I might injure myself more, or if the doctors did, I wouldn’t be out there”, Amukamara said. “I’m ready to go”.

That praise is well earned. However, it is just really hard to trust Cousins and the Redskins in general.

Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is now third in the league behind Drew Brees and Philip Rivers with a 68.3 completion percentage, including marks of 82.5 and 80.0 in his last two home games.

A bit of potentially good news, a bit of definitely bad news, and perhaps a bit of surprising news on the injury report Wednesday for the New York Giants. Although this is an important game, all of them are and should be approached as a must-win. “Hopefully we’ll get DeSean involved for four quarters”. They need to get the running game going and do better in the red zone. That helps explain the inconsistencies, but it’s more than just that: they have yet to become consistent in the run game on either side of the ball. The only question is whether they’ll be able to handle the glare of the spotlight on a game to which everyone will be paying close attention.

“I think we kind of had to scrap much of our game plan because we got into a two-minute mode for much of the second half”.

And the line will also have its hands full in trying to keep Washington linebacker Ryan Kerrigan away from Eli Manning. The Redskins have struggled with the Giants in recent seasons, losing five in a row, including an ugly 32-21 loss at MetLife Stadium on September 24.
