Redskins NT Golston to IR; Ioannidis up from practice squad

Washington Redskins nose tackle Kedric Golston went on injured reserve Monday with an injured right hamstring. The longest-tenured Washington player at 11 National Football League seasons, Golston, 33, might have just played in his final game with the Redskins.

To fill his roster spot, the team will bring up defensive lineman Matt Ioannidis from the practice squad, Gruden said.

Kedric Golston pauses during warmups before a preseason game against the Jets.

The Redskins were thin at defensive line entering the game, as Kendall Reyes was not active with a groin injury and Anthony Lanier was also inactive for the second consecutive game.

Ioannidis was selected in the fifth round out of Temple. Washington only dressed five defensive linemen. Hood played a total of 47 of the team’s 68 defensive snaps on Sunday and had one tackle. The 33 year old, in his 11th season with the Redskins, suffered the injury in Sunday’s loss to Dallas.

For his career, the University of Georgia product has registered 224 career tackles with seven sacks and seven passes defensed. He was the starting nose tackle this season.
