Redskins RB Jones injures left shoulder
“This week we’re trying to get out and start and get guys’ continuity with each other and try to move on from there”. “But I think he’ll be very close to being ready”.

Jones had carried the ball seven times for 31 yards before he left the game. The Redskins (1-1) can ill afford to lose Jones given their lack of experienced depth behind him.
Washington spent a third-round draft pick on Jones in 2015, and he delivered solid numbers in his rookie season.
Washington’s third-string quarterback, Nate Sudfeld, connected with fellow rookie Kendal Thompson for an 18 yard, one-handed touchdown catch with 29 seconds to play in the fourth quarter. On the very next play, Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy hit Rashad Ross for a 39-yard touchdown. “When he uses it that way, it’s good for the offense”. Wide receivers Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson, tight end Jordan Reed, outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, inside linebacker Will Compton and cornerbacks Bashaud Breeland and Josh Norman also walked onto the field in uniform, but not wearing pads.
The Young Wideouts- Jalin Marshall, Charone Peake, and Robby Anderson headline a group of playmaking rookie receivers who are generating plenty of buzz at Jets camp.
“I was like, ‘Let’s get the first down, ‘ but I should’ve checked it down and made it an easier punt”, Sudfeld said.
Jets defensive back Calvin Pryor pushed Jones out of bounds before landing on him to force the rusher out of the game in the opening quarter.
Wednesday, Bowles said Hackenberg had increased reps during the week and that he planned to get him into Friday’s game.
Sudfeld had struggled for most of the evening, as he took the field with his teammates for the final time just 3-of-10 for eight yards. Nick Folk made his extra-point attempt.
“You want to be more polished than you were in game one”, Bowles said. Ryan Grant had a nice evening as well, hauling in 4 passes for 43 yards. OL Spencer Long’s costly hands-to-the-face penalty that led to a safety didn’t help him in a competition at left guard against Shawn Lauvao, though it came with him at center.
Jones said that he has no history of shoulder injuries and that he really doesn’t have a good feel for how serious this one might be. DL Lawrence Thomas left with a shoulder injury, and Bowles wasn’t sure of the severity.
The Jets brought in veteran running back Matt Forte, but he is not expected to play tonight.
Wilkerson, returning from a broken leg he suffered in last year’s season-ending loss to the Buffalo Bills, has also vowed to be ready for the regular season-opener.

Geno Smith, meanwhile, replaced Ryan Fitzpatrick and completed six of 13 for 47 yards, an interception, and no scoring drives before giving way to Petty. We should see some decent playing time from the starters.
