Redskins sign OLB Galette to one-year deal

UPDATE: The Redskins have signed Junior Galette to a one year deal, per Mike Jones from the Washington Post. It seems his release has morphed an already mad Galette into a bit of a loose cannon, which makes him unsafe for whichever team he goes to.

NFL Network’s Albert Breer reports that it is a veteran’s minimum deal and that Washington has the right of first refusal on Galette for 2016.

Cornerback DeAngelo Hall, a pal of Galette’s who shares his agent, said the signing “takes us from good to great”. Coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis both said they wish him the best of luck in his future, which will now be with the Redskins.

Payton said he climbed in himself on Friday morning – though some Saints players like Akiem Hicks and C.J. “I just want to move forward and not worry about the past, but what’s ahead of me”. “Playing a Jack is something that’s going to be new to me but at the same time a lot of similarities to what I’ve been doing, it’s not like it’s going to be too much of a real change for me”.

In adding Galette, “who’s had maybe a checkered past, so to speak, we feel like the locker room that we have is strong enough that we can help him out”, Gruden said (see full story).

Day three of Saints Training Camp began on a sunny and handsome Saturday in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. He could provide a pass-rushing complement to outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan, stepping into a role left vacant by Brian Orakpo’s departure via free agency. Former second-round picks Trent Murphy (2014) and Preston Smith (2015) can play on their feet and had good college sack production but might be better as run stoppers.

The Dallas Cowboys are once again the center of attention, and unfortunately, it’s because their name is connected to two troublesome players. He has 22 sacks over the past two seasons.

Then there’s the appearance of a YouTube video showing a person reported to be Galette – though denied by his lawyer to the New Orleans Times-Picayune- swinging a belt and hitting a woman in a beach melee in Miami in 2013. We wish him well.
