New York has surprised many this season with a great start that has been led by a strong defense and an improved offense.

The Redskins drafted both Griffin and Cousins in 2012, taking Griffin in the first round and Cousins in the fourth.

After a huge scramble by Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to start the second quarter, Ivory ripped off a 54 yard run, diving up the middle before racing down the sideline to put the Jets offense deep in Redskins territory. That’s the spot the Jets are in Sunday when they host the Washington Redskins.

This will be the New York Jets’ last home game until November 8th against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Redskins would cash in this time.

Brandon Marshall, the Jets’ first player with 100-plus receiving yards in three straight games since Al Toon in 1988, has averaged 102.3 yards in three career meetings with the Redskins.

The Redskins were able to capitalize on a turnover forced by their defense, something with which they haven’t had huge success thus far this season.

The game also saw an spectacular punt block by Michael Mauti, who went on to recover the ball for a touchdown to the delight of tens of thousands of fans at the Superdome. Laying less than a touchdown, the Jets are priced cheaply enough to buy. It was the culmination of an impressive 11-play, 83-yard scoring drive that took 6:01 off the clock. Chris Ivory provided 54 of those on a run that set up a Nick Folk field goal and he scored the team’s only touchdown of the day on a one-yard burst. They were driving against the then unbeaten Falcons in overtime for the winning score when Kirk Cousin was picked off and returned for a touchdown.

But the Redskins couldn’t quite get going from there. Running backs Matt Jones and Chris Thompson and wide receiver Pierre Garcon were all also on the weekly injury report, but all three are expected to be fine for Sunday.

As for the New York Jets, on the other side of the field, the franchise are 3-1 streak and the second-best team in the AFC Eastern Division. “We were all out of gaps, and I’ll take responsibility first and foremost and that’s in the D-line room”.
