The Top 120 players in the FedExCup standings are likely to earn a spot in the first leg of the playoffs with a top-125 finish this week, with all players below them needing strong showings to improve their positions.

The Wyndham and next week’s event at Bethpage Black in NY are the last two events in which hopefuls can earn an automatic spot by finishing in the top eight in special standings. He won’t defend his title this week as he continues to recover from surgery, but he’ll be scouting the Hazeltine hopefuls as the deadline nears.
World number eight Rickie Fowler has confirmed he will go to the Wyndham Championship as he looks to claim a Ryder Cup berth.
It could prove to be a wise decision for Fowler, whose lone top-10 on the PGA Tour since mid-May was a T10 at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Cabrera-Bello said he made a decision to play in Greensboro this week instead of the European Tour’s Czech Masters, because the stronger field would offer more world ranking points, and give him a better chance to improve his Ryder Cup position.
Rickie Fowler is one of seven Olympians here, and 2007 Wyndham victor Brandt Snedeker also is back.
Well, we have ourselves a little Ryder Cup problem at the moment.
“The whole town where she (his sister) lives is what you see on the national news”, Toms added. Love will also have four captain’s picks. But the leaderboard at the Wyndham Championship shows that sometimes the spark from a unique experience can outweigh any globetrotting fatigue.
Love was hoping to at least have the option of choosing Woods, if he got back onto the course, but that didn’t happen. These last several years he seems to be just on the outside looking in.
The 27-year-old has two reasons for doing so. “Some good golf can take care of that”. How about a PGA Tour-best, 12-under 58 at the Travelers Championship in his last competitive round?
ANDREW LANDRY: $5900, 225/1 – Landry comes in this week on the back of an under the radar top ten last week. Obviously not playing well in the majors and the double-point events has put me down the list quite a bit. He’s a compelling player when you ponder what he could potentially do in match play. While the fairways are just as easy to hit as the previous two weeks, the greens will pose a much bigger threat to the field.
The first three captain’s picks will be made on September 11 after the BMW Championship, with one more coming on September 25 following the Tour Championship. Rookie Jon Rahm is in the field playing on conditional status and should the impressive former amateur star win this week, he would automatically convert to official FedExCup status and qualify for The Barclays.
A Donald Ross-designed course, the par-70, 7,127-yard track is known for yielding low scores, giving McGirt even more confidence as he sets his sights on earning his second win and a spot on the Ryder Cup team come September.
