The 45,000 lights on the Rockefeller Center tree go live Wednesday night, with a star atop the 78-foot tall Norway Spruce and an assortment of musical stars around its 47-foot wide base.
Rain inaugurated the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony – with security restrictions including a prohibition on umbrellas.
Reese Witherspoon will be hosting the event with a special appearance by Miss Piggy of Muppets fame.
Wednesday, December 2, the Tree Lighting, hosts by the Boy and Girl Scouts, will take place on the corner of Summit Road and Park Avenue at 6 p.m. for more information, call Kathleen Volker at 908-403-6202.
