Now it’s our turn to share our gifts and that is our love, our praise and thanksgiving, our availability, and dedication. May the love of the Father abundantly enrich every family as the birth of Jesus is joyfully remembered and celebrated. Like the shepherds of Bethlehem, may we too set out to see this sign, this event which is renewed yearly in the Church. He was determined to overcome a common fear of his day, one that still lurks in our hearts even now: the fear that God could never deign to dirty himself with our messed-up world but remains aloof from it all, remote in celestial splendour.

In today's gospel the faithful are reminded that the essence of Christmas is Christ
