Refugee crisis: Calais migrant killed by freight train in Channel Tunnel
A spokesperson for Eurotunnel in France confirmed to Mashable that a person was found unconscious near the track on the French side of the channel, adding that police and other emergency services were called immediately. According to the officials, he has been killed by a freight train in an attempt to reach the United Kingdom crossing the tunnel by foot.

The young man was thought to be of Sudanese or Eritrean nationality, they said.
Almost a dozen people have died since late June trying to reach Britain via the tunnel in hopes for a better life.

Following the addition of new security measures, Eurotunnel, which connects France and Britain, has said attempts from refugees to get into the terminal have fallen to about 150 per night, down from about 2,000 earlier in the year. Meanwhile in Calais, French riot police have moved in to clear the refugee camps sprung up around the coastal town, firing tear gas and bulldozing the tent cities into the ground. Last week a man died after being electrocuted at the entrance to the Eurotunnel in Calais, and was found on the roof of a freight train, the BBC said. United Kingdom has also committed to take in 20,000 Syrian refugees from camps in countries neighboring Syria.
