Refugee flap overtakes state issues in La. governor’s race

A national poll then found that 53% of Americans opposed allowing the refugees in, while only 41% supported it. In the wake of the Paris attacks, carried out by at least one terrorist who entered France with a mass of Syrian refugees, the issue is now super-charged politically and the level of opposition is likely to rise substantially – especially in red states like Louisiana.

Edwards is making the fact that Vitter’s number appeared on the D.C. Madam’s phone list an issue in a campaign ad.

David Vitter closed out the night acknowledging his past indiscretions as his biggest learning moment in the last 15 years.

Vitter’s wife, Wendy Vitter, reportedly works as a lawyer for the Archdiocese of New Orleans, which is affiliated with Catholic Charities.

However, Edwards’ campaign says Vitter has lied about Edwards’ position and is firing back at Vitter’s commitment on the issue, saying he missed key Senate Armed Services Committee hearings on Syria, and those are evidence of Vitter’s absenteeism. However, Edwards tweeted Wednesday that as early as Saturday he called for a complete pause in the influx of Syrian refugees into the state. If David Vitter and John Bel Edwards believe that raising taxes is the answer, they should have the guts to say so.

For years, Vitter has avoided that topic at all costs – getting agitated and angry when it came up. “People are concerned and want to make sure America and Louisiana are safe”.

Edwards has scheduled his event at Hotel Monteleone on 214 Royal St.in New Orleans.

A little more than 48 hours after waving buh-bye to his dozens of supporters in the Hawkeye state, Jindal has returned tanned, rested and ready to 1) plug a $500 million midyear budget deficit, 2) explain to his daughter that she won’t be getting that dog and 3) throw a few political gas on a governor’s race that’s already an inferno of nastiness.
