With a vote each, Cheryl then sent Lauren home, and Simon stuck with Che – admitting he couldn’t decide – so sent it to deadlock instead.

Elsewhere, Cheryl’s final act Reggie N Bollie came out with very mixed reviews, as they attempted to show a different side of themselves with their first performance of Rock City and Adam Levine’s Locked Away.
X Factor performers tonight had the opportunity to sing two songs, and Che chose to tackle a tricky Amy Winehouse song for his second. Wait – what? Rita said it hadn’t been the best but it had been “decent” but was still a fan because they were so appreciative of being on the stage. However, Murray’s tearful performance wasn’t enough to keep her in the competition. Nick agreed saying it had been the first time he’d felt her nerves.
After a last minute song change, she swapped from a version of Best Of My Love to her rendition of Jess Glynne’s Take Me Home. As she stood with Louisa Johnson moments before the sing-off, some viewers claimed to see Lauren “mouth” the words, “It’s Louisa”. Cheryl commented that it was flawless timing and really worked.
Nick Grimshaw said: “Obviously I’m Che’s mentor but Lauren I wanted to say I never wanted to send you home – when you make a record I’d love to have you on my show – I’m a massive supporter”.
She’s a victor! Louisa, who is being mentored by Rita Ora, has been showing off a voice far more mature than her young years – as proved by her Saturday night performance.
“Lauren then sang Runnin” (Lose It All) which had Cheryl running out of compliments for her bravery and did like the fact she was singing more current, relevant songs.
After a quick break, the voting lines were open and the pressure was really on for the remaining four acts, especially Reggie “N” Bollie and Lauren who hadn’t received positive responses for their first performances. Simon thought the performance proved she was a fighter and Nick said she was “so comfortable to watch’ because she was 100% herself”.

All of the acts have now performed and Sunday night’s results show awaits.
