REI Urges Customers to #OptOutside for Black Friday

Although online mobile shopping is certainly beginning to dominate in ecommerce as a whole, retailers are more than aware that offering deals around the clock is vital throughout the holiday season.

That’s the takeaway from an analysis of online shopping trends by Adobe Digital Index, a research group that studies online sales data. This one, like in the past, is focused on the Android stuff and the accessories that go with the Android stuff and the occasional other electronic that may or may not go with Android stuff, but still might be of value thanks to a deep discount. “And, our most loyal consumers can beat the crowds and get a jump start on shopping with additional, exclusive offers”. NRF says items are discounted an average of 24%.

Intuitively, that makes sense: The better the deal, the more likely people are likely to snap up toys, tablets and whatever else. Similar to Amazon’s extension of Black Friday deals to the week before, these in-app deals will continue to pop up through Wednesday, December 9.

Knowing exactly what the deal actually is, plus knowing the details of the coupons, gives you a better idea of what to look for.

Have you been shopping pre-Black Friday sales this year?

Retailers are gearing up for the big day, especially the “big box” stores that sell name brand appliances, housewares, electronics, and other popular gift items.

As is always the case, Best Buy has more deals than you can probably handle. Remember the saying, ‘early bird catches the worm’.

Retailers who rely on a steady stream of people through their doors over the holiday season- which starts on Thanksgiving and ends on Christmas Eve-may need to rethink their strategy.

In addition to the Wish Bigger deals and the Thanksgiving event, eBay will also offering new deals every hour through Cyber Monday. That means deals for days, not just the day after Thanksgiving. Almost 70 percent of the 155 million shoppers said they will be making purchases online, with 26 percent specifying that they plan to shop on Cyber Monday. But there’s no rush. It’s great for getting things even cheaper than ever.

Smaller retailers have a harder time matching those deals, and more of them seem to be staying closed on Thanksgiving this year, analysts said.

These two online leaders make it possible to complete your holiday shopping – complete with big deals – before putting your turkey in the oven (maybe before even buying it). That’s your opportunity to get in and buy without the mob mentality. You can also search by category or by store for specific products.
