Originally released in 2000, the Nokia 3310 was one of the most successful phones Nokia ever produced and would go onto sell more than 100 million units. All the fans and Nokia brand adorers are quite anxious to know how HMD Global had planned to set up the consistency of the brand in future. It’s almost two decades old but examples are still snapped up when they appear on Amazon and eBay.
But will all this enthusiastic love for the 3310 of yesterday spill over into new sales for its incarnation?
It is likely to cost £50 (€59), and is expected to be marketed as a back-up handset for those with more battery-zapping hi-tech main phones.
Below the screen, Nokia is rumoured to include a physical home button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor for speedy unlocking of the device, as well as in-app purchases and security features.
Apparently, Nokia will make some big announcement at the MWC 2017.
The Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 will both run on Android Nougat 7.0, leaker and Venturebeat writer Evan Blass reveals.
The Nokia 5, which will drop to a 5.2-inch, 720p display, Snapdragon 430 SoC, and 2GB of RAM for €199 ($210). Nokia 5 is expected to be priced at €149 and Nokia 6 is expected to be priced at €209. The 6 is already available in China and has met with sell-out success. Now, 17 years later Nokia is planning to bring a new iteration out into the world. HMD has acquired a license to use Nokia’s name in an arrangement that mutually benefits both companies. The company will officially launch the Nokia 6 in other regions during its MWC presentation.
