Asked about the floor test that the Supreme Court has ordered, he said: “Vote of confidence is the natural way of proving one’s majority”.

Tuki told NDTV, “It is a victory of democracy; the law has protected us and protected our country”. “The verdict is really historic as faith in democracy and rule of law have been restored”, Tankha said.

Even as the Supreme Court gave the verdict, the Chief ministers of BJP and it’s allies including Kalikho Pul are meeting Amit Shah as he launched North East Democratic Alliance in Guwahati, a platform that will spearhead a Congress mukth North East.

On February 16, the court had also refused to pass an interim order on a plea of Congress leaders that Arunchal Pradesh Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa be restrained from swearing in a new government in the state.

Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today welcomed the verdict of the Supreme Court which paved way for reinstating the Congress Government in the State.

Putting up a fearless front, BJP tried to deflect the criticism saying the political crisis in the state was an outcome of Congress’ internal fight and claimed that the order is not a setback to the party. Though Tuki has officially taken charge of the government, he might find it hard to sustain it beacuse of lack of numbers.

Congress leaders hailed the verdict and attacked the BJP for trying to “trample democracy and constitution”.

Thirdly, the bench said “all steps and decisions taken by the Legislative assembly of Arunachal Pradesh in pursuant to governor’s order of December 9, 2015, are unsustainable and liable to be set aside and as such it is set aside”. “My government will remain”, he said. This is the second setback for the BJP after the SC restored the Congress government in Uttarakhand which the Centre had placed under President’s rule.

“It is a government of Congress rebels supported by 11 BJP MLAs from outside”. The BJP leadership claims that it was the internal matter of the Congress. In Nagaland, Congress MLAs are switching over to the BJP and infighting is brewing in the Congress state unit in Manipur. “I also demand an apology from Central government ministers who were part of the conspiracy to topple the government”, he said. “The court cancelled the Governor’s order saying it violated Articles 174, 175 and 163 of the Constitution”, Sibal added.
