Relatives of flight MH370 victims seek meeting with Malaysian officials
Foot patrols, helicopters and navy units would also take part in search operations covering the island and its surrounds, according to the statement, which was jointly issued by the French ministers of defense, transport and overseas territories.

France has also dismissed Malaysian claims that more debris has been found.
Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai also said on Thursday that certain characteristics of the wing part, including its paint, matched maintenance records of the crashed Malaysian plane. Earlier they gathered at an office in the hope of meeting Malaysian officials, although none arrived.
“I want the government to provide something reliable, an adequate and convincing argument to convince us because it’s been more than 500 days”, said the woman, who asked not to be identified.
The jet disappeared on March 8 last year inexplicably veering off course en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.
“Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and its insurers remain steadfast to ensure that fair and reasonable compensation is paid to the families of all MH370 passengers in accordance with the law”, a spokeswoman for Malaysia Airlines said in an emailed statement.
Mr Liow said he understood why the French team had been less categorical in their conclusions over the flaperon, saying: “We respect their decision to continue with their verification”.
Investigators would probably then clean it and “do a full physical examination, using ultrasonic analysis before they open it up to see if there’s any internal damage”, Weber said. However, a team of experts in France examining the part hadn’t yet found anything linking it specifically to the missing plane, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because there was no authorization to talk publicly about the case.
Malaysia announced Wednesday that the debris was “conclusively” from MH370.
But numerous relatives of the Chinese vicitms say they’re not happy with the answers they’ve been given by the Airline.
A U.S. official familiar with the investigation said the flaperon clearly is from a Boeing 777.
“We suspect that the plane wreckage could be faked”, said Liu Kun, whose younger brother was on the plane. He added that the discovery of a flaperon wasn’t enough to put an end to so many unsolved questions.
Moreover, French officials have said that no other debris has been recovered and that there was only a strong possibility that the flaperon had come from MH370. Our target area is 120,000 square kilometres within that and we’ve searched over half of that area to date.
Sara Weeks, the sister of MH370 passenger Paul Weeks of New Zealand, said the confirmation ended “a week of turmoil”.
