Reliance Jio to fund Rs.5000 Crore to help setup startups!
At the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani announced that Jio subscribers will have to pay only one price for all of Jio’s suite of services including data and applications. A spokesperson for Vodafone India said, “We have always offered great value to our customers, backed by excellent customer service, a nationwide presence, and Vodafone SuperNet – our best network ever”.

Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man, told the energy group’s annual shareholders’ meeting that services on the Jio network would be available for free until December 31 in a “welcome offer”. He also said the company will launch smartphones starting at Rs 2,999 and WiFi routers at Rs 1,999.
Reliance Jio hopes that they will make it big on content with a variety of offerings, including mobile wallet, security, magazine newsstand, messaging, and on-demand services. The scheme which drew huge crowds and disrupted the existing market at that time offered a multimedia mobile phone, along with a connection for an upfront payment of Rs 501. By March 2017, we will cover 90 per cent of India’s population, Ambani said.
On allegations that incumbent operators had not provided enough points of inter-connect during the test phase, Mathews said the operators had met their obligations on their understanding of the network load and provided capacities for up to 20 million users.
Unleashing a flurry of freebies, Ambani said that apps in the Jio ecosystem worth Rs 15,000 crore will be free for consumers till the end of 2017.
Operators including Airtel have already cut tariffs for data plans by as much as 67 per cent and added fourth generation, or 4G, services in an effort to prevent customers from defecting to Jio. They will also have the cheapest 4G LTE rates in the world. “Together with Jio, these partners are keen to showcase the full power and range of their offerings to Indian customers”, Ambani said. This will initially be rolled out in big cities and then extended to the top 100 cities.
There is a news of relief for the young aspiring entrepreneurs across the nation as Reliance Jio have ventured their capital of around Rs.5000 Crore to help setup their Start ups. The fund will disburse money over the next five years.
The news of Reliance Jio’s new network and plans is supposedly shaking up the other three main wireless carriers in India, including Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea to adjust their own plan pricing, according to Mashable.
# Jio’s commercial launch likely to be on December 31.
