Angélil stepped down as Dion’s manager in 2014, turning her career over to a friend of the couple but he remained involved in business decisions.

The late musician, who guided Celine’s career, was first diagnosed with throat cancer back in 1999.

It was Celine Dion’s husband, René Angélil, who encouraged the singer to resurrect her Las Vegas concert series past year, but in light of Angélil’s death yesterday (January 14), Dion has canceled at least two upcoming dates. She was 12-years-old at the time, but both Angelil and Kaye recognized her enormous talent.

An official announcement confirmed that she’s not scheduled to resume her residency until February 23.

Angelil and Dion have twin boys, Eddy and Nelson, 5.

“There is no other manager like him”, Dion once said.

Country icon Reba McEntire posted on Instagram: “My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Celine and her family on the passing of Rene”.

He is also father to Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre from previous marriages.

She returned to performing last year after a year-long pause to look after her husband.

In 1994, when she was 19 and he was 45, the couple married in an extravagant wedding ceremony that was televised live in Canada, and splashed all over glossy magazines.
