Bridget Jones is getting ready to return to theaters after a 12-year hiatus.
Welcoming back both Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth – on board as a pregnant Bridget Jones and on-again, off-again love interest Mark Darcy – the long-awaited new chapter in the cult series is being directed by none other than Sharon Macguire, following her genre-defining work with the beloved 2001 original.

However, Hugh Grant’s Daniel Cleaver has been reported to not appear in the upcoming project. Two weeks ago, via Instagram, Dempsey posted a photo of himself in the United Kingdom prepping for filming and it comes with a caption that read, “Nice to be working in England”. “I really like it here!”
Meanwhile, the Bridget Jones franchise will have gone 12 years in between movies, while also being Zellweger’s first starring role in nearly seven years.
The franchise is based on the character created by Helen Fielding and includes 2001’s Diary and 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.
“Bridget Jones’s Diary”, distributed by Miramax and with a production budget of $25M was able to earn $71,543,427 in the United States and $210, 386,368 worldwide.
