Renee Zellweger took a career break because her life felt ‘pretend’

Zellweger, who famously packed on 30 pounds to play Bridget Jones in the original film and sequel, wanted to plump up for her third turn as the famous singleton but, according to the Daily Telegraph, director Sharon Maguire convinced her not to.

“Sharon was hoping we could show that Bridget had achieved her ideal weight, but at the same time it didn’t mean her life was flawless”, she said in an interview with the newspaper.

“It’s easier for me if we begin before we begin Then when we’re rehearsing I’m not thinking about how I’m saying things”.

Zellweger’s comments gain extra traction in light of constant media speculation about changes in her facial appearance over the years. After all, Bridget Jones looks fabulous at any size-which is why it’s great to hear that she’s finally comfortable with her weight.

Colin Firth is back as Mr. Darcy, but Hugh Grant declined to return, with Patrick Dempsey filling the spot as the second male lead.

“Traveller”, he said, “Traveller’s a beer you travel with right?”

But those who watched the trailers for Bridget Jones’s Baby may have noticed the beloved character has slimmed way down!

“He practices every day, ” said Zellweger, hooting with laughter.

Dempsey, however, addresses the question of his swooning fans with the sort of thoughtfulness one might expect from a real-life McDreamy. That is something that is really moving to me, ” he said. I wanted to make some choices about what other kind of work I might do in that respect.
