Replacement Samsung Note7 Smartphones with Unaffected Batteries Available in Stores
Despite all the media coverage of exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7s, there are still about 5,000 people in Canada holding onto the recalled devices. The message, a company spokesman said, was sent to every phone number directly and indirectly associated with a Galaxy Note 7, an encouraged customers to visit their local store for a replacement. Samsung ordered a global recall of the phones after the device’s lithium batteries sparked fires. The software update will also change the battery indicator to red if the phone needs to be replaced.

With the replacement device and software rollout, Samsung is making good on a promise the company made last week, when a government-sanctioned recall was announced the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), to deliver new devices by September 21. Alternatively, owners of affected devices can receive a refund. Currently, the device does not appear to be available for sale online. Cars, hotel rooms, entire homes, and even children have allegedly fallen victim to the faulty battery in the Note 7, and Samsung’s share of the bill is getting steeper by the day.
The notably great Samsung Note7 saga continues, while hopefully reaching the beginning of the end of the dramas now that safe replacement stock has now started arriving.
The release date for the Galaxy S8 is obviously far-off, but considering the company’s whim in releasing the said product line, it’s likely to be presented around March 2017 or earlier than scheduled.

The Canadian subsidiary was the first to start a replacement program, according to Brannen, who says 5,000 consumers have already had their potentially risky phones replaced. What they didn’t tell us was when we could expect to be able to buy one again. But this time Samsung said it wasn’t to blame, and instead it said it was because the phones are too hot.
