The revelation that Mills was directly involved in foundation work gives new ammunition to critics who complain of a revolving door for Clinton cronies between the State Department and the influential nonprofit.
According to the federal investigation, Clinton used “several different servers and numerous mobile devices” to send and read emails on her personal domain from 2009 to 2013.

In one email exchange released by Judicial Watch, Doug Band, an executive at the Clinton Foundation, tried to put billionaire donor Gilbert Chagoury – a convicted money launderer – in touch with the US ambassador to Lebanon because of the donor’s interests there.
“I’ll talk to jeff”, she replied.
It’s easy to understand why Mills was trusted with helping find the next director of the Clinton Foundation. So the defense that Hillary herself did not set up the meeting with Gilbert Chagoury with the USA ambassador to Lebanon, is beside the point.
The ongoing email dispute undermined the potency of a speech for which Clinton’s campaign had been laying groundwork all week, one in which she presented her economic agenda in full and tried to brand her self-styled populist rival a fraud. But Trudeau simply repeated her statement about the Department talking to a wide range of people. It was probably not illegal and it may or may not have been unethical: The donor reportedly wanted to convey information, not ask for a favor. It’s like electing Richard Nixon president when you know he is going to do Watergate.

The emails show that the Clintons blurred the line between their family charity – through which they have made numerous financial and political connections – and the State Department. Of the “classified” emails, most were retroactively classified (at a low level) in a dreary episode of interagency feuding; three were marked classified at the time but were marked improperly (and were trivial); and 110 were emails Hillary “should have known” were classified, but which dealt with a drone program that everyone on the planet already knew about.
