The White House is on lockdown after the shooting at 17th and E Street NW.
The Washington Post reports that the Park Police tweeted about a shooting at one location, while D.C. Metro police were investigating a report of gunshots at another location.
A suspect who allegedly opened fire on the White House complex Friday afternoon is down and in custody, according to a law enforcement source.
President Obama was not in the building at the time, but Secret Service officers told all reporters to move inside the White House.
The Secret Service did not immediately say where the shooting occurred, and there were conflicting accounts from other agencies.
