Reports of student with gun spurs Pleasant Grove High lockdown

The school district did release a statement asking parents to talk to with their children about campus safety, and about what can and cannot be brought to school.

“I want to assure you that the safety of all Wilson High School students is one of our top priorities, and we remain committed to ensuring that your students are safe”, she said. KDVR reports there have been no reports of injuries or gunfire at the school in Denver. The staff member immediately told the School Resource Officer located at the school.

A search following the threat turned up a pellet gun and a student was taken into custody.

Beadle said that there were no district-wide policies for alerting parents to such incidents, and that it was up to building level administrators to decide how and when to alert parents.

Both the D.C. police and the school authorities were conducting thorough investigations of the security breach.
