Republic Day: Tight security in Delhi amid warning of terror strikes
The day is being marked with a complete strike in occupied Kashmir.

“Security apparatus has been tightened in all the places in Jammu and round the clock security has been provided to all the venues for the R-Day celebration”, Deputy Inspector General of Police Jammu-Kathua Range Ashook Wani told PTI.
The money has already been on high-alert in front of the standard festivities below – after inputs were obtained concerning the existence of crucial people of many horror outfits – wherever French Leader Francois Hollande may be the Main Visitor. Around 40000 security personnel have been deployed at key locations in the city, including metros, market places, shopping malls, railway stations and inter state bus terminals.
Similar arrangements are in place in Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. “One militant has been killed and one AK-47 rifle and three AK magazines were recovered”, an official said.
He said police men along with personnel of other security agencies are carrying out area domination exercises in the areas around Bakshi Stadium.
All check-posts along the inter-state borders of Punjab and Haryana have been put on maximum alert, officials said.
In Kolkata, security has been increased at Victoria Memorial, Kalighat temple, Indian Museum and other iconic structures as well as at buildings housing government and non-governmental offices, shopping malls, etc.
DGP said the security apparatus around sensitive and vital installations have also been beefed up.
The police was also verifying the antecedents of the outsiders living in Jammu, the SSP said. Leaves of all senior officers have been “cancelled” and they would be on duty during this period and would continue till this weekend, he added.

“On 26th January when Indian Govt.is observing the way as Republic Day, the same day is a Black day for the people of Jammu and Kashmir as the Indian Govt. has deprived the people of Jammu and Kashmir from the freedom and democratic rights past 68 years”, the statement said.
