Trump is leading the field of Republican hopefuls and this week picked up several key victories in the “Super Tuesday” delegate voting, seeing off his main rivals Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio in crucial states.

Romney is the latest in a string of high-profile Republicans seeking to prevent Trump from becoming the GOP’s candidate.

Sen. Ted Cruz speaks during the Republican presidential primary debate.

Trump said he was starting to do that, but defended that and other business decisions he’d made. “The reason he makes it in China and Mexico is because he can make more money on it”.

“Well, let’s hear it, big Donald”, Senator Rubio responded. Do people expect Trump to tell this man not for vote for him? And I have to say this, he hit my hands no one has ever hit my hands.

Trump offers a now-familiar argument against Romney’s public criticism of his policies and temperament: “Look, he was a failed candidate”, and his loss “was an embarrassment” to the Republican party.

“He referred to my hands”, Trump said. To the suggestion that he might be small elsewhere, Trump said: “I guarantee you there is no problem”. Holding his hands up, Trump declared, “I guarantee you, there’s no problem” in that area.

The real estate mogul also continued to reject Romney’s claim that Trump could have a “bombshell” in his tax returns, which he has not released, citing an ongoing audit.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who has previously labelled Trump a conman, called for further attacks on the property magnate. “As many Republicans have said, Mr Trump’s presence at the top of the ticket may not end up being particularly helpful to them”, said White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest.

Cruz, too, took the fight to Trump, accusing him of being “someone who has used government power for private gain”. “We’ve got to win this nomination”, he said.

Clinton has attacked controversial Trump before also.

With Ben Carson and Jeb Bush suspending their campaigns and Chris Christie voicing support for Donald Trump, the debate should be an interesting one to say the least. “I believe we can nominate a person who can win the general election and who will represent the values and policies of conservatism”.
