Republican CEO Meg Whitman Endorses Clinton, Calls Trump a ‘Demagogue’
Time to add another Republican defector jumping ship this November. In a Facebook post, Whitman, who was co-chair of Chris Christie’s campaign and ran for governor of California in 2010, describes herself as a “proud Republican”, but she says she can not “endorse a candidacy that I believe has exploited anger, grievance, xenophobia, and racial division”. “Donald Trump’s demagoguery has undermined the fabric of our national character”, Whitman posted on Facebook about the Republican nominee.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Top Republican donor and fundraiser Meg Whitman has endorsed Democrat Hillary Clinton for president, saying she can not support a candidate who has “exploited anger, grievance, xenophobia and racial division”.
“Trump’s reckless and uninformed positions on critical issues – from immigration to our economy to foreign policy – have made it abundantly clear that he lacks both the policy depth and sound judgment required as president”, Whitman said in a statement released Tuesday night. “His authoritarian character could threaten much more”, Whitman wrote on Facebook.
“Leadership is creating consensus in our wonderful country and letting everybody know that American exceptionalism and the American dream are alive and well, that’s what leadership is, that’s what Hillary Clinton is”, said Cuban. “I urge all Republicans to reject Donald Trump this November”, she concluded.
And it doesn’t stop there.
“I will vote for Hillary, I will talk to my Republican friends about helping her, and I will donate to her campaign and try to raise money for her”, the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive tells the New York Times.
Clinton’s campaign viewed Bloomberg, a billionaire Republican and household name, as being able to go toe-to-toe with Trump’s claims he is best suited to run the country given his own business credentials, according to those familiar with the discussions.
It’s the latest coup for Hillary Clinton as she continues to reach across to the Republican side for donations and support, and with former eBay CEO Whitman on her side, she is guaranteed a certain amount of extra contributions, in addition to Whitman’s personal donation, which is said to be in the “mid six figures”.
