Republican group likens Clinton to Trump in advertisement
Lewis says “the fact that I did not meet him in the movement does not mean that I doubted” Sanders’ involvement.

In one of many moments of agreement between the candidates, Clinton concurred on a need to address a criminal justice system that incarcerates a disproportionate number of minorities.
Clinton spent a fair amount of time embracing Barack Obama’s policies in an effort to outshine Sanders in SC, where the president is immensely popular.
“I completely agree with Senator Sanders”, Clinton said. And he noted that Clinton was the only one on the stage who ran against Obama in the 2008 presidential race. I support President Obama, but I’m telling you this: “We can do better”.
“That is a low blow”, Sanders said, saying he had worked with the president throughout the past seven years.
During the Democratic debate on February 11, Sen.
And it reflected the shifting terrain of the Democratic race.
In the wake of the massive loss in New Hampshire, Clinton campaign spokespeople have been keen to emphasise Hillary’s strong ties to African American voters. It was their first debate since Sanders’s big win in the New Hampshire primary. That helped steer PBS moderators Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff and the two candidates toward an expansive discussion of racism, poverty, immigration and policing.
“I don’t know what economists secretary Clinton is talking to”, Sanders responded, insisting that families could come out with savings.
Both offered sweeping critiques of policing in black communities – a far different take on law enforcement than viewers have heard at GOP debates.
The exchange underscored the degree to which Obama’s legacy has become tug-of-war between Clinton and Sanders as the Democratic race winds into Nevada and SC, where minority voters play a pivotal role. In South Carolina specifically, the population is made up of a comparatively higher African-American population than the previous primary states and the entire country.
But it’s the issue of Obama that’s giving Sanders his toughest political challenge right now.
“We’re going to emphasize education, jobs and housing”, said Clinton, who was endorsed earlier in the day by the political action committee of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Clinton also used the opportunity to launch a veiled attack on her Democratic rival, telling the crowd “I’m not a single-issue candidate, and this is not a single-issue country”. I can’t imagine him leading as much as a change in the majority party in the House and there is no way any of his more dramatic proposals have any chance of passing given the composition of Congress-which is very unlikely to change radically in the near/medium future. Still, Sanders did earn the endorsement of Representative Keith Ellison.
And late today, word came that former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore is dropping out of the Republican race.
Sanders says universal healthcare a right, not a privilege. He said he was the candidate willing to take on drug companies, the insurance industry and medical equipment suppliers who might be opposed to an overhaul. “I just hope that by the end of this campaign there will be a lot more supporting me”.

“Now I find it rather unbelievable because I happen to believe that Henry Kissinger was one of the most destructive secretaries of state in the modern history of this country”.
