Republican Kasich: Presidential contests will lead to brokered convention

Republican presidential hopeful and Ohio Governor John Kasich spoke to a couple hundred people at a Traverse City town hall on Saturday morning. Kasich hasn’t won a state yet, and he trails Trump by about five percentage points in Ohio. He again denounced personal attacks of Trump on Thursday and said he had personally spoken to Romney by phone and warned him against such an approach.

On Friday afternoon, it was Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s turn.

In any event, a vote for Kasich is a vote against Trump, whose star can’t fall fast enough for us. He is an author, former radio host, and president of the Reagan Legacy Foundation. Bernie Sanders is hoping he can build on victories in his home state, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Colorado on Tuesday, while Hillary Clinton is working to build on seven victories from Tuesday to extend her delegate lead even more.

Added Weaver, “We are going to win Ohio”.

So we should have a de facto division of labor among the candidates for the next two weeks, during which the interests of the Kasich, Rubio, and Cruz, properly understood, happen to coincide with the national interest in stopping Trump. “For those of us who are pro-life, I think we need to be pro-life in the scope of life, and (Kasich) lives that out”.

Excusing the loose metaphor (technically, nobody gets home court advantage during March Madness – the games are played neutral sites), Kasich is finally on the ground where his team has been targeting to fight since his second-place finish in New Hampshire.

Calley said he talked to his boss – Gov. Rick Snyder – about the endorsement, and, “he said whichever direction I wanted to go, that was fine with him”.

(CNN) – John Kasich said Friday that he expects a contested Republican convention in July.

“There was 16 of them and we are now down, I am the last governor and there is five of us in the race”, Kasich told CNN’s Ryan Nobles in an interview for the “RunningMate” podcast.

Kasich said Trump is channeling the frustration of people who are underemployed and frustrated with, and can only be beaten by someone with a vision and a record that shows they can get the job done and isn’t just talking “political gibberish”. Kasich asked one questioner who posited just that, before continuing on to tell him if that was the case, he should look under his pillow the next morning to see what the Tooth Fairy had delivered.

“We are going to probably go to a convention”, he said.

Kasich also sounded some libertarian values, suggesting that rehabilitation should be prioritized over stigmatization when it comes to drug addicts and the mentally and physically disabled.
