Republican leaders denounce Clinton in Cleveland convention

It wasn’t the role he had hoped for.

Trump’s polarizing, unpredictable bid for the nomination has alienated Republicans both on the right and in the center, and the divide has spilled over into the convention, though without overwhelming it. Tuesday’s roll call unfolded largely according to plan after a day dominated by unwelcome attention over passages from an eight-year-old Michelle Obama speech that made their way into Melania Trump’s address to the convention, nearly word for word, the night before. “And then she lied about it, over and over again”, he said, adding later, “We didn’t disqualify Hillary Clinton to be President of the United States; the facts of her life and career disqualify her”. “Lock her up!” returned in full force tonight, most prominently during Chris Christie’s speech, which was nearly entirely about Clinton and hardly about Trump. The audience responded with chants of “Lock her up!“. And both spent more time attacking Hillary Clinton than boosting the GOP nominee. Christie repeatedly asked the crowd.

“We have an alternative”.

Amid the assaults on Mr Trump’s opponent, Mr Christie also found time to compliment his own party’s nominee, whom he described as “a strong leader” and a “caring, genuine and decent person… who understands the frustrations and aspirations of fellow citizens”.

If you think Chris Christie can lecture anyone on ethics, we have a bridge to sell you. She linked to a New York Times timeline of the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal. The governor, who started to talk up his law enforcement background more as his campaign failed to gain traction, endorsed Trump after dropping out of the race in February and has become one of his most ardent advocates.

“Of course, you’re disappointed”.

“Yesterday, I offered my resignation to Mr. Trump and the Trump family, but they rejected it. Mr. Trump told me that people make innocent mistakes and that we learn and grow from these experiences”. But “you take a deep breath, wake up the next morning and get on with your day”.

“I personally hate, I mean hate, all of the negativity”, Pickle said.

The roll call of the states Tuesday night delivered Trump the nomination, which he welcomed from afar in a videotaped message saying “This is a movement, but we have to go all the way”. “In person, my father is so friendly, so considerate, so amusing and so real”, said Tiffney, reflecting the fatherly and humane character of 70-year-old Trump.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, shaking off the disappointment of being passed over as Trump’s running mate, led the coordinated attack on Clinton at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleavland.

OH and four other states took over Clinton’s Snapchat account this week as part of her push to register more voters.

“We all want a woman for president, but not Hillary, not this fall”, Lucchese said.

“One of the things I have suggested to Donald is that we have to immediately ask the Republican Congress to change the civil service laws”, Christie said, referring to laws that allow presidents to convert their political appointees in the federal government into civil servants, who are more hard to oust from their roles, even in a Republican administration.
