Republican presidential candidates debate defunding Planned Parenthood

Republican Representative Tim Moore of Hardin County says if the state refuses to audit the group’s funding, he’ll sponsor a bill to halt all taxpayer support for Planned Parenthood.

At Wednesday’s presidential debate, Republicans echoed congressional outrage over undercover videos released over the summer that appeared to show Planned Parenthood officials negotiating prices for fetal tissue from abortions.

“I think it’s really short sided to be making decisions off of videos that have been proven lies”, said Planned Parenthood Board Member and LDS Democrats Chair, Crystal Young-Otterstrom.

The House is set to vote on Black’s bill on Friday.

Jeb Bush, too, pointed out that he had defunded Planned Parenthood as governor of Florida, instead becoming “the only state to fund crisis pregnancy centers with state moneys”. For advocates, the point is not that some abortion providers go too far; it’s that abortion itself does.

The House will also vote on legislation offered by Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., to strengthen criminal penalties for anyone fails to provide medical care to a baby that survives an attempted abortion. “We got to talk about what we would be willing to shut down for”, Christie said. Some Republicans are threatening to block a budget deal if it includes financing for Planned Parenthood. They said the GOP legislation had other goals.

Smith concluded, “These extreme statements demonstrate just who we are dealing with in the White House, but the question remains”.

Yoder proposed the bill in July, well ahead of the showdown over Planned Parenthood funding that could prompt another temporary government shutdown until Obama and the Republican Congress can agree to a budget.

And I’ll tell you, the fact that Republican leadership in both houses has begun this discussion by preemptively surrendering to Barack Obama, and saying ‘we’ll give in, ‘ because Obama threatens a veto.

Reid’s remarks come as the Republican leader is expected to tee up a procedural vote on moving to ban abortions at 20 weeks later on Thursday.

Democrats have blocked a Senate GOP bill halting payments to Planned Parenthood. “This is about the character of our nation, and if we will in the stand up and force President Obama to veto this bill, shame on us”. “This is about the character of our nation”. He then brags about defunding Planned Parenthood in New Jersey, and vetoing funding for them eight times – because nothing says good governance like blatantly ignoring the will of the people and denying poor women affordable healthcare.

Holly O’Donnell, a former procurement technician for StemExpress, said in the video that it was the most gestated fetus she has ever seen.

“The reality is that the longer we wait, the more hard the path forward will be”, Reid said.
