Republican Senator Collins says she will not vote for Trump
His softer touch was so notable that his campaign later fired off a fundraising email in his name boasting that he stuck to the script.

Both Rigell and Hanna have said they intend to retire after this term, and Collins does not face re-election this fall.
Podesta took a swipe at Trump in the statement, accusing him of dodging the debates with Clinton. “But Donald Trump does not reflect historical Republican values nor the inclusive approach to governing that is critical to healing the divisions in our country”, Collins wrote in an op-ed article appearing in Tuesday’s Washington Post.
The first debate is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 26, at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. Child care is one of the largest expenses a family can incur – a study from the liberal Economic Policy Institute this year found day care costs more than college in 23 of 50 states. Kirk withdrew his endorsement of the GOP nominee in June.
But like Trump, Clinton has offered few details on how she would pay for her plan.
In this Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 file photo, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump speaks at a campaign rally at Windham High School, in Windham, New Hampshire. IT’S NOT – HuffPollster, with Ryan Reilly: “Most Americans, 61 percent, falsely believe that the level of crime in the United States has increased over the past decade, according to a poll conducted by The Huffington Post and YouGov”.
Claiming that Trump lacks the temperament to be the President, the statement alleged he has demonstrated repeatedly that he has little understanding of America’s vital national interests, its complex diplomatic challenges, its indispensable alliances and the democratic values on which the USA foreign policy must be based.
Our new NBC News|SurveyMonkey poll now shows Clinton with a 10 point lead.
“Calling Trump unqualified to be commander in chief is tough, but also asserting that he’s lacking in character and understanding of our basic values is really pretty fantastic”, said Tommy Vietor, a former National Security Council spokesman in Democratic President Barack Obama’s administration.
Because Trump’s plan is structured as a tax deduction, rather than a tax credit, it would primarily help more affluent households.
Clinton is keeping the pressure on.
Hillary Clinton’s campaign said Mrs. Clinton “looks forward” to participating in all three presidential debates and said Donald Trump’s campaign has been engaged in “shenanigans” about the schedule.
In late July, Trump publicly bemoaned the debate schedule, pointing out that two of the three scheduled presidential debates are on the same nights as National Football League games.
He has certainly been the most reckless candidate. “Does he have the temperament to be president?”
But now Trump sounds just like any other Republican: Cut taxes, cut red tape and all will be right with America.
Under his plan income taxes would be simplified for everyone from the current seven brackets to three with rates of 15, 20 and 39.6 per cent. “I am also deeply concerned that Mr. Trump’s lack of self-restraint and his barrage of ill-informed comments would make an already perilous world even more so”, she wrote, adding, “Mr. Trump’s tendency to lash out when challenged further escalates the possibility of disputes spinning dangerously out of control”.
But Ryan came face-to-face with the complications Trump poses for his party while campaigning in his home state of Wisconsin.
“I will not be voting for Donald Trump for president”.
Ryan, who has attempted to broaden the Republican Party’s appeal, said there was nothing he could do.
Trump’s play for the working dads and moms vote may be opportunistic, but it marks a societal change in cultural norms.

“We deserve all the information about these candidates that we can get our hands on to make an educated vote in November”, he told Blitzer. “But it just doesn’t work this way”.
