Republican tensions rise as Trump withholds support for leading figures

Whitman said she is even willing to campaign for the former secretary of state.

About 43 per cent of likely voters favour Clinton, 35 per cent favour Trump, and 9 per cent picked “Other”, according to the July 28-Aug 1 online poll of 1289 likely voters.

When Fox polled voters in late June – before both conventions – Clinton was up only six points, 44 per cent to 38 per cent. The New York Times, who first reported the endorsement, also revealed Clinton reached out to Whitman about a month ago, hinting Clinton’s aggressive play to reach across party lines.
