The Trump campaign later released a statement claiming its candidate meant doctors who performed abortions should be punished. Since his selection of the conservative who backed Trump rival Ted Cruz in the primary, there have been countless reports on the significant policy difference between the pair.
Yet to reporters on July 7 at a local IN county fair, Pence, when asked by NBC whether he empathized with Cruz and his supporters after Trump’s personal attacks against the former Trump rival, demurred, calling it the realities of a “competitive primary”. “All of this took place in a public facility no less”. “I think Donald Trump has made a connection to working families and everyday Americans in a way that no one has in my party since the 1980’s”.

Pence defended his relationship with the media, and said his legislative contributions to protect reporter-source confidentiality is proof that he believes in a free press.
“Will you argue with him to lift that ban, because reporters are part of the game”, Hewitt asked. ‘We shouldn’t ban. Republicans should not be afraid of reporters’.
Pence said. Governor Pence also hit some serious notes, coming out strong against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
