Republicans Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina drop White House bids
Elsewhere on social media, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders held strong. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., speaks at a campaign event to the Sun City community in Bluffton, S.C., on Thursday Feb. 11, 2016.

“The debate performance hurt”. Kasich (mostly) maintains that he’s a nice guy.
Saturday at CBS’s Republican presidential primary debate, Jeb Bush and Donald Trump got into a heated exchange over the foreign policies of Jeb’s brother, former President George W. Bush. The Republicans and “undeclared” independents who voted for Trump have entrusted their hopes to a demagogue with no experience in government who demonizes minorities, demeans women and promises to reinstitute waterboarding of suspected terrorists and “a hell of a lot worse”. The two rivals are preparing for an evening debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
If Cruz “doesn’t clean up his act, stop cheating, & doing negative ads, I have standing to sue him for not being a natural born citizen”, Trump wrote.
His best guess is supporters of Christie and Fiorina will likely drift to one of the GOP governors – Ohio’s John Kasich, or former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. Meanwhile, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has been reportedly planning a big push in the Palmetto State, drawing in his family’s political network there. Rubio accused Cruz, another first-term senator, of hurting USA military might with his budget stances.
He didn’t win in New Hampshire, but Sen.
Cruz and Trump are now competing in SC for the No. 1 spot.
Rubio has adapted on the fly, holding lengthy press conferences in SC and speaking extemporaneously to supporters as he punched back against the narrative that he is too green. Also, Mr. Christie’s strategy, focusing exclusively on winning the New Hampshire primary was both ambitious and uninspired.
Now there are seemingly at least two primaries within a primary.
But he must still do better among non-white voters, who play increasingly large roles in states next up on the nominating calendar – such as SC, where more than half the Democratic electorate will be African-American.
Not every candidate who wins in New Hampshire goes on to win their respective party’s nomination.

Cruz told the Mike Gallagher radio show today that “South Carolina is going to play a key role in choosing whether the Republican nominee is a proven conservative or simply a candidate who talks the talk on the trail but hasn’t walked the walk”. She confirmed Cruz will continue to highlight Trump’s past, an allusion to his public support for abortion rights and same-sex marriage. “Programs for the poor in healthcare back to SC and all the other states”, said Kasich. But Kasich ended up with the last laugh after finishing second in New Hampshire, and Christie ended up suspending his campaign.
